  • I get v bad throat infections and swallow Manuka Honey. I swear by it. I get mine from Tesco (about £10) per jar.

It would be worth trying to find some local honey which should be cheaper than the Manuka. It should be as it came from the hive - not heat-treated or blended.

Local honey is NOT a patch on Manuka. Manuka has antibacterial qualities far superior to ordinary honey. Used in Christies Cancer hospital on patients with throat cancer. It kills MRSA better than any antibiotic. It also kills H. Pylori after about 3 months use 3 times a day - the cause of acid reflux and many ulcers. Also better than other honey on wounds.

It HAS to be active 10+ or higher to work properly. The 10+ is greatly sufficient for most things. 15+ or more is expensive and you'd probably use less because of the expense.

Sainsburys own is great - you can order online!
  • I used it on a cut that wouldn't heal for weeks on end - worked wonders... worth whatever you have to pay!

I know that but if the OP can't afford it, then local untreated honey is the next best thing.

I just paid £9.99 for a +10 jar to help heal a long-standing wound. Had it for 6 or 7 weeks and the honey cleared off the horrible stuff in just applications so well worth the money. A bit messy though, and I HATE honey so can't even eat it now.

No, not diabetic as this problem prompted me to have a fasting test which came back clear. It's a mystery as other cuts etc cleared up in 'normal' time but this one just persisted despite a course of antibiotics.

    So, it's worth the money.
Did you rub it on, or eat it?

It depends what you're treating - for wounds or skin ulcers, apply it like an ointment; for internal problems, enjoy eating it!
