most soup recipes ive seen, need a Blender. I dont have one :(
  • I heard about all these pesticides in our fruit and veg and thinking is it worth buying! I wish I could grow my own but with a small back garden it isn't likely. Still, it has to be healthier than the ready meals I used to buy. I was told by my mum to throw the cauliflower stalk and leaves out as you couldn't eat them!! I used to think well you eat the rest of it so why not.

The best thing to use is a hand blender - available in Tesco or Asda for about £5 (cost of 2 or 3 packs of fresh soup) ;)
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • If you chop the bits up you can use a potato masher and a sieve, but i'd go with the hand blender

It's more work, but you can push the soup through a sieve.

I eat all the bits of broccoli and cauli (though the leafy bits get fed to the chooks). I tend to munch on the stalky bits raw while I'm cooking, so they never see the cooker. :D

Yes - I go for the soup solution as my family will not eat stump or stalk!

If you chop the green leaves on the cauli and boil it all together it adds to the taste without adding fatty type sauces like cheese sauces. We have been doing it for years and the kids readily eat it this way because they enjoy the flavour
