Credit Card Dilemma!

Hi, does anyone have any advice for me?
I have 3 credit cards, Capital one £1,300, MBNA £5,700 and Santander £2,300. Am self employed and have not had consistent work since November 2009. Have fallen behind on all payments and am now being hounded on a regular basis by their debt collecting services. Capital one's representatives are talking about offering me a settlement of £980.00 to clear the debt. Unfortunately I do not have access to that sort of money. A friend told me to check Martin's site as he was in a similar situation and acquired advice from this site which helped him negotiate settlement figures to clear his credit card debts.
Is this a wise move?
What advice would you give me?
Thank you for any help you can give

1 Have you considered getting a regular job rather than be self employed?
2 Go and see CAB - work out a budget of what you can afford to pay each month.

Thank you for your reply.
Have been successfully self-employed for over 12 years now, but since recession hit last year everything ground to a halt. Just now things are slowly looking better. Still not yet in a position to completely clear c/c debt so your advice of going to the CAB sounds like a very good option.
I am open to more good suggestions right now!0 -
