pots and pans

Options
My pots and pans have seen better days. They are starting to rust now and the handles are falling off. Seeing as it is nearly my birthday, I thought it was time I bought some new ones. OS style of course. So what are my options for cheap and cheerful and also for more tradtional 'last a long time' kind of pan?

I've had various saucepan sets over the years, but the ones I have now have lasted the longest and still look the best. Just a plain stainless steel set from Argos, with stainless steel lids. The non stick ones and the brightly coloured ones never stayed nice for long.

When I had my new kitchen done three years ago I treated myself to a set of Meyer hard anodised pans. They were expensive but they are as good as new after three years hard use, and nothing sticks to them. I would definitely recommend them for long life

I have found the QVC Cooks Essentials pans to be fantastic. Nothing sticks to them, you can use them with normal utensils, not just the non-stick utensils. They are dishwasher friendly too.

Even better if you get them when they are a TSV or from the QVC Outlet store - where they are cheaper.

I would treat yourself and buy some good quality pans that have whatver atributes you are looking for. They will last for years.

I have some Meyer stainless steel pans, which have glass lids with straining holes in (what a fab idea that is, the simple ones are always the best!). They have a squidgy bit on the handle so I don't get burnt. Really well thought out.

Available in Debenhams, and will be greatly reduced in Debenhams next sale which starts next week.

Edited to add: I've mentioned the Debenhams sale twice in two posts today, I just want to make it clear that I am in no way affiliated to Debenhams, nor do I know anyone who is.

I bought a German set of three in TK Max a few years ago - reduced from £99 to £29 - they're still going strong! Brilliant buy as I cook a LOT!

I think you get what you pay for with pans. I bought a set of 'Stellar' 18/20 stainless steel pans (funnily enough in Debenhams sale) nearly 10 years ago & they're as good as new. MIL gave us £50 worth of vouchers for Christmas so that eased the pain a bit. DH & I are keen cooks so they get a lot of use & I've no reason to suppose they won't outlast me so they were worth every penny.
Prior to these I had several sets of cheap pans & I'm sure they'll work out cheaper in the long run.
  • Not very cheap but SO pretty!! These http://www.pots-and-pans.co.uk/acatalog/Kitchen_Aid_Cookware.html KitchenAid ones have my vote - they are on my Chrismas list and I am hinting HEAVILY to my OH :D They are non stick and if they are any way as good as the food mixer then worth every penny!
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotch of the person who screws up your day and may their arms be too short to scratch...:D
  • Ive seen some pots and pans in Lidl that look pretty sturdy and at a reasonable price
The trouble with work is that it interferes with living
  • Thank you everyone :D Just having a browse of the ones you have suggested. I could get addicted to kitchen equipment I think...
