Hi all,
I am trying to access Egg Money Manager and First Direct Internet Banking Plus, but my internet explorer will not download the Active X whatsoever, no matter what settings I change.
I have a brand new laptop running Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8.
Thanks

Try
in IE goto Tools
Internet Options
Then security Tab
Then Custom
and check these settings
Under ActiveX ensure the following are set to enabledRun ActiveX and plug-ins – EnabledSet the following to “Prompt”
Download Signed ActiveX Control – Enabled
Script ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting – EnabledDownload unsigned ActiveX Control – Prompt3. Click OK and Apply and OK. Restart the browser.
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not mark as safe – Prompt
Without knowing what you have changed already it may not work.0 -
What happens when you try?
Tried firefox if you need to get on quickly?:idea:0 -
aerostar, have changed all settings to what you advise, and still not working. When I try to log onto Egg Money Manager, it asks me to download a digital safe or password vault thing, it then brings up a box saying do I want to give permission, to which I click yes, then it just does nothing. Similar to First Direct.
alienrik, I have never used Firefox - would this be a better option?

Is your Win7 64bit ?
You have two versions of IE8 on your install, are you are using the 64 bit version. What happens if you try the 32 bit version of IE8 ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. You hit the nail on the head - I emailed Egg and they themselves wrote back to say that they have identified a problem with Windows 7 64-bit Internet Explorer and gave me instructions to open the 32-bit. This worked and I can now view my bank accounts again - thank goodness!
