Failed At My Tesco Interview

Hi, sorry to hear that your interview didn't go as you would have liked : ( I'm not sure if Tesco do have any protocols in place for time inbetween re interviewing but I do know a friend of mine who applied for a job at his local store and was rejected only to re apply at a new Tesco store A month later and get a job. I myself went for an interview at Tesco's & was equally as nervous as yourself, the key to answering the questions and getting offered a job(I discovered from talking to collegues that applied at same time as myself) is to answer all/ as many of the questions with honest sounding answers, this is because interview us based on a points score( points for each answer, extra points for good answers) also you have to bear in mind that stores such as Asda & Tesco Have certain quotas to fill regarding employees. I started at a brand new store and they had to hire so many jobcentre applicants, diff nationalitys, students etc. What I did find at Tesco though is they hire alot of their staff internally and will give preferance to family & friends. I found alot of them to be related or close in some way so maybe you didn't stand a chance anyway.! One thing you could do though is take one of those training exercises which help you with your skills in an interview, as it sounds as though you were extremely nervous & to not answer hardly any of the questions is not gonna get you a job. Good luck with the job hunting : )0

What i would be inclined to do would be to write down the job title and what you think this would involve for example if it is a till operator you would have to have great people skills patience of a saint, organisation skills should anyone want a hand to pack and very trustworthy seeing as you would potentially be taking in thousands of pounds on a busy shift.
Write these things down - like what the job involves and the skills you think you will need (most of these are usually in the job description though) and relate these to experience in your life, even if you dont have experience in that industry you have skills that you can transfer from other areas of your life and is just a matter of you finding what you do that reflects these skills - i think it is easier for someone close to you to give you examples of how you do these as it is often things that you dont think of as it is just a routine for you.
Also never ever turn up that early - its great that you were so keen but then to moan about him going to the toilet, sorry but you were half an hour early.
As for the forms and the watch on the table, i use to work in a tesco customer service centre and had to speak to various store managers across the country and their days are always very structured they have set times for everything!!! Kind of annoying but just smile and accept this there is nothing you can do about that.
Good luck xx0 -
Sounds like you've already realised the mistakes you made and are working on them. Think of this experience as the only interview you will ever go to under prepared. Just do your homework from now on, there's a lot of good information out there and if you are really stuck just PM.
I had a similar experience, learnt from it and have never looked back.0
