Failed At My Tesco Interview

Hi people, I' m 21 years old and I have been unemployed for awhile.
I sent an application form to Tesco on Monday the 6th September, I got a phone call on next Monday that I have an interview at on Wednesday 11:00. I was glad that they gave me an interview:j, but I was thinking to much of that I have got an interview and I thought I would get the job.
On the following day of the interview I got up early and got ready:T, I got there 30 minutes early:T, after 10 minutes of waiting they interviewed me but the interviewer had go to the toilet, which was weird:o, going to the toilet at the begining of my interview:mad:, he gave me a form to fill in a form till he gets back which was about dissablities and other problems they might want to know, so I filled in the form.
I would prefer to start the interview not filling in a form at the begining and also wait for him as was at the toilets at the begining of my interview:mad:, that just ruined and what more he had to tell that the watch on the table is for him to keep track of time and to schedule other interview time, all this just bugged me and made me more nervous than ever:eek:.
I was totally nervous in the interview:eek:, he asked me alot of questions I think it was 10 questions and I couldn't answer most of them and the ones that I answered which I made no sense. I wish I could get a second chance but I don't think Tesco would, maybe I'll have to do the application process again:(.
So I didn't get a Job at Tesco
, I' am thinking of re-applying to Tesco again, but I want to know if they will interview me the following week.
I want people on this great forum to help me to prepare for the another Tesco interview:), hope they give me an interview again, I' am going to fill in the application form again and send it off.
I was not fully prepared to answer the questions, so I hope you people could help me:).

I don't think they will give you another interview for another 6 months probably or something like that.. But by reading what you put, you simply didn't prepare enough for the actual interview yourself or think what you could be asked and how to answer it.. Just because you are given an interview doesn't mean you are automatically pretty much guaranteed the position - the interview is the chance for you to shine and unfortunately you didn't prepare for that.0

Have you asked for feedback? It is very unlikely that they will interview you a week after you have been declined a position, as you will not have gained any additional experience or skills in that time.Gone ... or have I?0

I really dont think you will get another interview. In fact I know you wont get another interview so i really wouldnt waste your time.
They have interviewed you, you didnt get the job so grit your teeth, tell them 'its your loss' and keep looking.
You werent fully prepared for the interview to answer the questions, you should have been, no excuses.
Put it donw to experience for you next interview somewhere else.
Everyone who fails an interview feels the same way as you and altough you feel bad you have to accept it.
Next time you have an interview, come on here before the interview fo advice.
Good luck.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Sorry you didn't get the job but consider it an experience and one you can learn from.
Next time you get an interview try to prepare for it, google "job interview questions" and try to think up answers to them before you get there. Some of the more common ones for retail/customer service jobs: "tell me about yourself", "why do you want to work for us?", "what skills do you have to offer?", "what does good customer service mean to you?", "give me an example of a time where you have: worked in a team/dealt with a difficult customer/dealt with change/provided excellent customer service".
Also, getting there 30 mins early isn't so great, if you're told be there for 11 then try 10-15 mins before 11 rather than at 10.30 as the interviewer will have planned their schedule around interviewing you at 11. The interviewer knowing you were waiting there might have rushed to see you to save you waiting and that's why he suddenly had to go to the toilet at the start of the interview. If you're too early, do a walk around the block a couple of times until it's the right time.
It's also pretty common practice to fill in forms before an interview begins so be ready for that again in the future. I've been at interviews that pretty much required me to copy my CV onto their own application form so it's a good idea to have your CV along with you as well as a note of your references if they ask for them.
Finally, I wouldn't apply again as they are unlikely to interview you. Try other places and if you find yourself looking for a job again in 6+ months time then try Tesco again.
Good luck with the job search.Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190

What were the questions you couldnt answer?0

Interviews are difficult, but you can practice and learn how to answer the most common questions beforehand. And do your homework about the job before you go.

You wont get another interview anytime soon with tesco, just move on and focus on other interviews0

I find it strange that you say you would prefer not to fill in paperwork at the start of an interview. It isn't for you as the potential employee to dictate the form the interview should take. You also say it "bugged " you,Showing annoyance is not good at an interview. All I see here is a very busy Manager, trying to do his job, plus interviewing, probably the store is short staffed too, which should give you an idea of the pressure may be under in this retail environment. Half an hour was way too early, and you should have been grateful and thanked them for attempting to fit you in,when you had upset their schedule.Good luck with your jobsearch.0

It could have been a very suitable selection technique - filling in paperwork and having to wait form someone.....if THAT annoys you - then you probably aren't suited to working in that shop....If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
