Furniture buying

I wonder if anyone can help me! I bought 4 chairs in an independent furniture shop. The shop stocked a range I was looking for, but did not have the chairs in that range on display in their showroom. The store assistant showed me a catalogue that had a picture of the chairs in the same range, so i ordered them. When the chairs arrived the wood looked much darker than what i saw in the catalogue picture, and they seemed to be a darker wood than the furniture, in the same range, that I saw displayed in the shop. I explained to the manager of the shop that the chairs were darker than expected and that I would like to change them for another type if possible. The manager of the shop has refused to let me exchange the chairs or give me a refund. I am not sure if i have a right as a consumer to take this further. Any advice would be appreciated.:)

Well come on who is the shop that deserves it's bad reputation to be made public? It is probably a non-matching batch issue or some items were ex display, others direct from factory. The colour may even out after some months - wood changes colour when exposed to light.

Catalogue illustrations are rarely the same shade as the actual item.
