                    Chaps,
we're considering a trip to san francisco next year and the best price on expedia seem to be united airlines, however we are use to flying virgin to the states, so has anyone got any feedback on uniteds trans-atlantic service?

If you can pay the extra for economy plus, it's about $70 each way and gives more leg room. Did this from San Fran before and made the flight much more comfortable. If you book direct with united there will be an option to add this.0

curiously ive looked at booking united direct and they are more expensive than booking with expedia including a 4 star hotelLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

You might be able to add the economy plus even if you book with expedia. It can be done at the airport on the day but can be expensive depending on how many seats left. There used to be an option for an annual upgrade for all flights for a year too for a couple $100 for one person plus the person travelling with them. Might be worth looking at that.0

when we flew with united we bought the economy plus annual pass as it was cheaper than buying economy plus seats, we just bought the economy seats and then got the annual pass which upgraded both of us - it may not be a cheaper option for you but it's worth working it out to see if it is cheaper that way

Personally, i much prefer to fly VS than UA anyway. Virgin economy seating isn't as good as United though. Much tighter on legroom unless you get the purple seats.0
