  • Is Lloyds a good long term investment?

There was a paper story last week I think, that they were cash rich and once they can issue dividends in 2012, these should be attractive. I have started to buy Lloyds (late I know, but better late than never) on the expectation I will get a good income from them similar to BP.

THIS IS A PERSONAL VIEW EVERYONE SHOULD MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS BASED ON THEIR OWN RESEARCH.

I think so it is why I am buying them although this is very long term. They have to get the government off their back first and yes I do appreciate that the current state of Lloyds is down to the help all of us gave them through central support.

Very Long term I expect/hope these shares will trade in the upper single pounds (£8 or £9 a share) if nothing happens to change that, the possability of the Banks being broken up is a concern.

In the short term I am stake building buying on the lows selling on the highs and waiting in between. Risky but so long as I know my max buy price and my min sell price and I stick to it then all should be OK.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

Have any UK quoted banks been good long term investments - say over last 10-15 years, or is it a myth that they are a good investment ?
