Those ladders've been up and down like a bride's nightie since I moved in. Last time they were used was on Tuesday when the Mira engineer came back to fix my new shower and they were ok then. Anyway I digress.
A couple of times the bottom section has come away from the top and my son has helped me slide it back in.
Today I thought I'd go up and finish the insulation and put a couple of boxes up there. Slid the ladders down and the top one has come completely off.
It has a bit which is screwed in to the loft and that is still there. I can't see any obviously broken pieces. On the bit in the loft it looks like something on the ladders should just slide into it ((shrugs)) Not sure though.
Other than taking a pic of it - which I may do in the morning, I don't know how else to describe it.
Are they very expensive? Just in case I have to buy a new set.

The bit that you describe as being screwed into the loft is attcahed to the ladder and is on a slider. This slides up and down on a recipricol grove on the ladder and is held in place by 4 stop pieces. These are adjustable to allow for different floor to ceiling heights. It sounds like yours have come out which has allowed the bit attached to tyhe loft floor to slide out. Have a look on the landiong floor or in the loft itself. They are normally plastic and are a bit smaller than a pencil sharpener.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
