ISA Fund Choice

Evening All,
I want to invest £100 (Child Benefit) into a Fund Based ISA over the next 15 years to help pay for childrens education etc.
First and very open question is how could I guesstimate how much this money (£18,000 in payments) could be worth in 15 years time.
the second question is choosing the fund(s). I really have no idea where to start or who to ask ?
for the last year I have put the money in a L&G ISA with most of the money going into a FTSE100 Tracker fund and the rest into Far Eastern fund. So far (with some Christmas bonus) I have invested £1400 and it is tonight worth £1458. To me this seems rubbish - I thought that the FTSE had risen over the last year and therefore my monthly purchase of units should have given me some great rises ?
Should I stick with this fund / supplier or cash in and move it elsewhere?
Is it best to stick with one fund, or diversify ?
As you can tell, I don't have a scooby doo about any of this. Should I just spend the money on DVD's and tell the kids to get a job like I did ??
All help appreciated.
