Carphone warehouse insurance

Hi. Basically my phone was stolen at a wedding of all places last Saturday. I reported it to the police and put a claim in with carphone warehouse insurance. They've rejected my claim and appeal saying the phone is lost and not stolen. They say the number I've got from the police is a lost phone claim. It was the number I was given by the police. It's a brand new iPhone 4 and I am gutted.
What can I do? Can I ring the police and get them to give me the right number but then it won't be within 48 hours? Or should I just go to the FOS?

Have you read insurance policy documents from CPW? Does it cover lost phones?

Never had any documents from them is the thing as well. They say it doesn't cover lost phones. I thought they were just trying it on at first.
