internet tablet advice needed please

Hi all, has anyone used an Archos 7 internet tablet (not the home tablet). I need something like this for work & play. I've looked at the iphone/ipod touch but the screens are too small (even with my contacts in and bigger font, lol) I also need to be able to view large sections of document not just a little bit hence the bigger screen requiremet.
The ipad is too expensive and I'm sure I ruined the one in the Apple store because I was drooling on it so much.:rotfl:
The new Galaxy tab is also very lovely but way too expensive. :eek:
The Archos looks like it might do the job but does anyone know if I can read &/or edit word documents & excel files on it?
