Well I did not make it to bed by midnight did I?

Never mind, as 00:26 hours could be counted as being first thing in the morning, I might as well post that instalment and then get off to bed - night everyone

So, the story so far - part seven:

And so we move on, getting ever nearer to the present day, but much has to change before then.

I really thought that I was sorting things out at this time. I agreed to pay £10 per month to the company dealing with the balance outstanding on the car. Of course they wanted more, but we didn’t have it, so they couldn’t have it. I knocked up a financial statement which showed that £10 was all we could afford, and they, reluctantly, accepted in the end.

I was in the mood to get things all sorted, so at that time, July 2009, I was mostly answering the telephone calls instead of ignoring them, and made arrangements to pay as follows:

    Outstanding on Car .................................. £20 a month ..................... Balance £2174
    My Cap 1 credit card ............................... £10 a month ..................... Balance £1176
    Mr 3Dogs Cap 1 credit card ...................... £10 a month ..................... Balance £ 696
    Jacamo catalogue .................................. £20 a month ..................... Balance £ 614
    Shoe Tailor ........................................... £20 a month ..................... Balance £2780
Council Tax previous year ....................... £50 a month ..................... Balance £ 560 to Rossendales Bailiffs
Council Tax current year ........................ £100 a month ................... Balance £1242 on Liability Order
    Rent arrears ........................................ £90 a month ..................... Arrears £300
Total debt being sorted out .................... £9,542

Wasn’t I doing well. I was quite proud of myself for getting it in hand after all this time. I was determined to get everything paid and up to date, especially as Mr 3Dogs would very likely never work again. I’d done a budget, with everything on and showing that I could pay the above sums. Well done me!!!

Mr 3Dogs knew about the payment arrangements with Jacamo for his menswear catalogue, Cap 1 for his credit card, and the company dealing with the balance on the car, plus he knew we were behind with the rent but that it was almost up to date. He still did not know about my Shoe Tailor account, my credit card, or the problems with the council tax, but at least I was dealing with them. I told him that I had organised everything and we could just about manage it.

Some of you may be thinking at this point that £9,500 of debt ain’t that bad considering the amounts sometimes quoted on this site. But of course it is all relative. Our income was very low, and it just could not service debt like this for very long, especially given that some debt was still being ignored by me and was unknown to Mr 3Dogs. Something had to give and soon ..........................................

    ....................... to be continued

 Eeek I certainly didn't get to bed for midnight did I? It was actually 1.30 am when I got to bed - that's after looking through a couple more threads, doing my online banking and updating my shopping spreadsheet

And now it's morning 0002015A.gif Actually, at this moment, I feel quite awake, but I know I will feel tired later on. Well, we've had our breakfast and are now having a cuppa tea and watching Sky Sports News before we go off to the car boot in 15 minutes or so

Have a good day everyone and I'll see you later jumping0045.gifjumping0045.gifjumping0045.gifjumping0045.gif

3Dogs oh my gosh. Fantastic instalment but gosh the stress involved. You are so calm now after you have been through so much.

Frit, a poem, woop woop - guys our first poem for our site. Maybe Martin'll put it in one of his books. Mr Fermi when it's printed later maybe you can pass it on to the powers that be. WOW!!!!!

000203FB.gif I am tidying up in a bit, lots of plaster dust everywhere then i shall do some marking. No one faint but the builders have finished i think, a tiny bit of plastering to do and then they will decorate over two weeks. Hooray. I will pop on later but will be back at 5ish.

Allie if you are around pop in ok? I was really upset last night for a while but everyone cheered me up. Just being here helps. Allie, FFC,Boult and Aoeriol (spelling whoops), a poem....... oh my gosh. How smug should we feel!!!!!

And Frit, for the poem i am sure Steve can organise a gentle massage for you to say thanks!!! tee hee.

  • Hi guys, well here is my poem. it was just a bit of fun and only took me about 10 minutes to write

    MONEY SAVING FRIENDS

    There is a special thread,
    On the world wide web,
    Were fantastic people gather,
    To listen and chatter,
There is 3dogs who started it all,
and created a place were we can have a ball
    She likes whiskey,
even though it makes her tipsy,
    Then we have Steve,
Who cooks and bakes to please,
He is such a nice fellow,
    and seems so very mellow,
    Then we have SavingWannabe,
    who clearly looks so young,
She has brains and looks to boot,
and she is so very cute,
There are many more as well,
Who I have only just met,
    but they seem swell,
This really is a great place,
With great people who care and listen,
Its a place to chat every night,
before I go to bed and turn out the light.
So thanks very much for being here,
You are all so very dear.
