Haggling on carpet costs...?

We are currently looking at either Westex Ultima (£29.50sqm) or 40oz Tudor Twist (22sqm). I know which one I like, but.... We are after 180sqm (cost of installing + underlay, grippers etc = £1756) + a small en-suite shower room vinyled (which they are charging £150 for).

Local carpet shop is already offerinf 10% discount (on carpet and fitting) with the quote (without haggling).

Total costs (including discount and VAT) are £6223.48 for the Tudor Twist and £7650.58 for the Ultima.

Everything in this world seems to be up for a haggle. Any idea what to strive for (apart from "as much as possible") with this quote?

  • Look online to find out how cheaply you can buy the raw materials then get a quote for fitting from a fitter. (Firemen are a good bet!)
