Alliance and Leicester DD pull

When your doing DD pulls from linked external accounts is it normal to take longer than the 3 working days. It seems it's takes 2 days to start the process and pull the money then 3 days to arrive. Is this normal when doing DD pulls, thus it's better to send money rather than pull it.

I find it's 7 days (!) to start the process then 3 days to arrive :eek:Sealed Pot Challenge Number 1225

Don't think it's a DD (if you mean direct debit). Are you using a debit card as the way of transferring?
Unless Santander have changed things, I think I found A&L didn't action things (like paying SOs) until the end of the day in question (well into the night hours). That meant that for all intents and purposes, the process started the next day as far as the other bank was concerned. That adds a day in itself.0 -
DD, direct debit, which is set up on my linked account.0

It's been a while since I had an arrangement like this with A&L, or any other provider for that matter, but DD pulls always used to take 3 days from start to finish...ie action Monday, cash arrives on Wednesday on a simultaneous debit/credit.
It's possible that A&L/Santander operate with an extra day (maybe you're requesting after the daily cut off point?), or maybe you're confusing funds arrival with funds clearance/availability?...which generally adds another 3-4 days because DDs can be recalled.0 -
I instructed the transfer by DD on Wednesday no money has left the linked account so they are not pulling it untill monday, ok they never acted upon it untill Thursday, they also only allow £25k not sure if it's a normal limit on a DD pull instruction, i know banks have different limits.
If i had sent it from my linked account it would have arrived 2 days earlier, but i had'nt tested the send by sending a £1 before so did'nt trust it with such a large amount.
Anyway just seems sloppy to me.0 -
Is this the first DD pull into the account? If so, there used to be something in the A&L T&Cs (certainly the Online Saver/E-Saver I had) about the first one taking longer. Second and subsequent DD pulls happen much quicker. Seem to remember (from discussions on here) that the best approach was to make your first DD pull for some nominal amount, eg £1, before following it up with the 'big one'.
Can't see anything in the current T&Cs on their website, but maybe you have more information available as a customer?0 -
No just checked, 2 previous deposits where both DD pullls as well.
First was for £1k which was pulled on 19th May arrived the same day.
Second was for £15K which was pulled on the 24 May and arrived the same day.
Fast Payment i know, but thought Nationwide had a limit of about £4k on the fast payment.
Obviously i have no way of checked when i instructed the DD pulls.0 -
Shocking.
Instructed the first DD Thursday 16th, the second 17th. The money was pulled from my linked account 22th & 23th respectively, 4 working days after instruction, now i have to wait 3 days for them clear.
WOW
!!!!!! i have lots and have lots of online accounts nothing compares to these jokers.
Anyone know how to access their secure online message system, i have 'your messages' on the left which brings up any old messages but no option to send anything.0
