My electricity bills seems high
I am currently with Scottish Power and pay £50 by DD. My quarterly bill for gas came to £25 this quarter and my Electricity bills to £80. I only use gas to cook and heating and why is it my electricity bills seems to be higher compared to the gas. We are a family of three, usual usuage, computer, three TV etc. I asked a friend she says she pays electricity for 2 at £26 but gas at £60. Is there any way I could check whether there is anything wrong ith e electric meter? Thanks

Get into the habit of reading your meters, say once a week and you can then see exactly how much gas and electricity you are using and calculate the cost. This calculator may help you. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I used to work at an elec company and we always advised reading the meter at the same time each day to see how much is being used/check nothing is left on ( I had a massive bill and one of the kids left an electric hdeater on in the garage!).
You can have the meter checked for free but it is rarely faulty.
It is usually down to either electric heaters/immersions/cookers/ all big energy users.
A few tips. don't leave computers/tvs/freeview etc on standby always switch off as this uses energy
Switch to low energy bulbs in lights these are cheap now from asda/tesco about 99p
Good luck!0
