Ebay items from US still not arrived !

I was wondering if someone could offer me some advice about outstanding items not received from the US.

On Thursday 14 September I did a buy it now on a product that the seller had 2 of. I bought both items. I had previously emailed the seller and been giving a shipping price. So I paid immediately by Paypal.

On the Friday 15th I received an email to say that my items were being shipped.

(I have recently bought from 2 other ebayers in America, and the items have both arrived within a week.) So I waited until my postman had been on Monday 25th, and dropped her an email asking by what method she had shipped my items, (as they had not arrived yet), becaused I had noticed on USPS website that there was a service that could take up to 10 days, and I also asked for the tracking number.

She replied almost instantly, telling me that I had not read the auction details properly and that the items were not due to be shipped yet as they had been away. !! (See above re email from seller, telling me that they were shipping my items). She then obviously realised her mistake and emailed again saying that the items had been shipped, as the transaction was done before she went away, and that they should be with me soon. No answer to my query about shipping method or supply of tracking number. I replied that I simply wanted to know which service she had used so I knew when to be around for the postman. (If I miss him, I have a 50 minute round trip at least to go to the collecting office).

She did not replied to this email. So I waited again.

After the postman had been on Wednesday 27th, I contacted her again, to say that the items still had not arrived, and could she supply a tracking number. She did not reply.

As of today Friday 29th I still have not received anything.

What should I do next ?

Wait; unfortunately I have had things take a month from the US by Priority mail so I would just relax a bit. Customs might be clogged up at the moment. Whatever you do don't get ratty until 5 weeks have passed but keep an eye on her feedback etc.

If she used the normal USPS service there won't be a tracking number. It rarely takes less than a week for items posted to USA to arrive so I would imagine it's not going to be that quick the other way. As Hintza says you need to give it time. She sounds disorganised rather than devious from what you have said.

Ive just been quoted 4-6 weeks from america surface mail, maybe she used this service by mistake ??

Why can things take so long to get here ? USPS advertise a variety of services starting at 3 days service minimum to 10 days maximum, not including Global Economy of course which is 4 - 6 weeks.

My previous orders from US have arrived within the week. Guess I was just lucky.

Not impressed at having to wait, I have to say, but guess I have no option!

I have only ever bought once from US and IIRC it took just over 2 weeks to arrive. didn't panic though, sometimes takes longer than that to post something to your next door neighbour!! as said, keep an eye on her FB.

Just to add to this message that it was labour Day in the US so a long weekend a few weeks back and this results in a backlog - my parcels our seem to be taking much longer to get out as well. You must have paid by Paypal, if you don't get either the item or a response from the seller next week start a chargeback, if she has sent USPS Priority she will have to give them the shipping number. However, USPS is just like our Airmail and unless you pay extra you do not get a tracking number. If you miss the postman you should have a number to call on the card and they will bring the packet back at a time more suitable to you - or you could leave a note taped to your door like I do asking them to leave it somewhere safe and then take the note and pop it in the door to say they have delivered it. I think it is too soon to worry to be honest, if it is over $30 on the customs label then it is probably stuck in customs while hey sort out the duty on it. Hope this helps.

I had one that was due to arrive in 'about 10 days' ,about 2 weeks later I had a card from royal mail saying customs would only let me have it once I had paid the duty. Best check you havent got one of those lying around by your front door.

No cards left yet. It's the same posty all the time, so I ask him every few days if he has a parcel.

Will just have to wait it out.

Well no parcel yet, but had an email from seller today. Below is an excert from her mail. Is this true ??

My post master got a hold of customs in Germany , looking for your package. All international packages sent to Europe go through customs in Germany. They can not find the package. This is just been one thing after another here.

She says that she has sent it out again and that I should have it by next Thursday !!

I doubt that the postoffice would look through hundreds of thousands of parcels to try and find yours !
