As a solicitor myself I am sure that the phone call was not from a solicitor. Unsolicited phone calls to debtors is not how a solicitor would operate, we like everything in writing.
If they ring again ask for the name of the firm and the person speaking and ask them to confirm that they are a solicitor or from a firm of solicitors...and then check that with the Law Society's website.
I think it is an offence to pose as a solicitor.0
