What about this job HR assistant. No need to speak to anyone. Just do the work fill out forms, send information off and that's about it. Send letters requesting references. Looks like a good job. No experience really needed.

Have a look at inputting jobs as well, some companies let you work from home , but check your tennancy agreement first.

If you have been diagnosed with depression , it is a mental illness and can lead to other medical issues. Still try for the DLA as mentall health issues are taken into consideration . It will be a long slog.

Times like these mean you have to change how u live to survive. When we realised we were in the do do we looked at what we were eating, a load of rubbish, so we started batch cooking and bulking with veggies and pulses , now we are healthier than ever.

The fact of the matter is you need to change , whether you want to or not its a matter of survival.

  • in tenancy agreement there is said: not to receive paying guests or carry on or permit to be carried on any business, trade or profession on or from the property. so i can work from home i guess? not fully underestanding it.
about food. we don't eat rubbish. we usually have wholemeal pasta or brown rice or potatoes and then some meat thing next to eat if we can. if we can't we have plain potatoes, or pasta with sauce. sometimes we have just meat with salad. so nothing rubbish looking to me. We don't get as much fruit and veggies as we should, but we just can't afford them. but i try to cook so we could have at least 2-3 of our 5-a-day.

that's a great idea! i actually have wished for a land of my own to grow my veggies. i am not that smart to know how to actually grow them, but i can manage to grow rocket and plain salad from seed, how much harded can other things be? :D I looked into it, but it's early to get any land at the moment. i don't think u can grow anything in the winter can you? But did put up a posting for finding a land. :) Thank you

Yes....And.... What really is wrong with going to the court and explaining fully your situation. The court will grant what is called a Liability Order. You will then make an arrangement with the council to pay it off over a reasonable time at an affordable rate. It does not have to paid all at once.

very bad advice - your forgetting that a) your looking at least £60 in extra costs , depending on authority, b) there is no requriement to agree a payment arrangement - many authorities go straight to bailiff's or to attachment of earnings and c) the court cannot make any payment arrangement, its the council's discretion.

I would never suggest not paying - ask the local authority if they can stretch the payments to March instead.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

You say your partner has only a few months on half earnings - so you'll have to adapt for the next few months - not forever. Got any family/mates that can help tide you over for a bit and make all the savings you can as mentioned by others.
  • we have already asked from family and friends for money, and haven't been able to pay back. otherwise we would go to occasional meal or so, to lower food costs, but all friends and family were left behind when we moved to UK, and haven't made new friends here.
Council tax is making a big discussion here. Whose advice to take then? Confused. The worst is the rent. Don't know what to do with that for 2 months when we are in tight position. :S

Council Tax recovery is my day job - believe me when I say dont ignore it, you must speak to the council and discuss the matter.

  • Don't cry anymore. You can do this. On most of the bills there will be a phone number to ring if you can't pay - call it up and see what they say. Explain the situation especially that it isn't permenant. Pay the rent and buy as little food as you can get by on. Get your partner to ask around at work. Would anyone give him a lift for a month or so? Give the TV to a family member and cancel the TV licence. Sell whatever you can sell and keep looking for work.

It is going to be tough. I think you can't avoid getting into debt some more but once the pay goes up in two months you will have some spare cash to pay off the debt. You are a team - and you will get through this together. Things like this do happen and in twenty years time you will look back on how you got through and how it made you stronger. Good luck.
