Happens all the time and theres nout much you can do...

I was the biggest trader of gibson guitars on ebay.. everyone copied my freewebs website to accompany my ebay.. then they copied the style of photographs I took.. then the copied me when I started selling customised spares...

Keep ahead of the game but trying new things.
  • yeah il have to come up with a new different idea will have to get thinking this afternoon!!!

Get some free web space and do a nice looking site with you contact details and what you do. Make it look professional and refer to your ebay as being part of your business, imply its a fraction of what you do etc.

I was *THE* seller of an item on ebay, I had a 400% margin, because what people sold in bulk, I sold in smaller lengths, people quickly realised I was making more money and people started to undercut me on price but my auctions were very informative, had a lot of infomation about the product with links, instructions, ideas etc, whereas everyone else cheaper had something like "product, length, price" and I was still making more sales at higher prices, so its all down to how you present your auctions

completely agree. we consitently get higher prices for our auctions than the competition aand as we sell second hand records, dvds and cds, (and used to sell phone codes, but don't bother now) there is a LOT of competition out there. A quality listing *will* pay off.

I believe in that too and it works for me. Buyers don't always go for the cheapest with a crappy looking description, a well presented auction at an higher price can work.

I don't worry about the competition being cheaper, I concentrate on an overall great service at a competitive price.
  • i dont suppose anyone fancies havin a look at my ebay stuff and telling me what they think about the description etc. I think perhaps there isnt a market for what i am selling. My user name is weightwatcher774

It looks very nice to me. Have you considered putting something in (bib maybe) personalised with the baby's name?
  • Thanks rose-sparky thats something to think about i will have to get practising at the old cross stitch
  • Oh gawd, cross stitch takes ages (memories of doing it long ago), I was thinking more along the lines of sewing machine embroidery?

I thought your listing looked nice and friendly, especially the offer to deliver direct to babys mum etc.
