Sony camera and sdhc card

I've just bought a Sony Alpha A380 camera, and decided to get a larger card for it. I checked and the 16gb Class 4 SDHC card is compatible, so I bought 2. They arrived today, both work on husband's Nikon, both recognised on laptop, neither work with the Sony. I get message Reinsert the SD card each time I try them. I've decided this brand (Bytestor from Amazon) for some reason isn't suitable. Do you think Amazon will take them back, and what is an alternative brand? How do I find one that works without wasting money buying them? They are not cheap, and I haven't the nerve to ask local computer shop if I can try them out, although I could phone one I guess.

Have you moved the memory selector switch to the correct position?Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

Yes, several times, it just won't recognise the card. As I bought it from Amazon I'll send it back for a refund, and try another brand. Any suggestions as to the quality of the various brands?0
