Hi, recently having problems with baxi boiler everytime i put the hot water tap on it doesn't seem to get very hot then the radiators begin to warm up. The hotwater sensor has been changed on the boiler which has made no difference. The only way the water gets hot is when the heating is on. Anybody any ideas what this could be?

Needs a new diverter valve. Yours is stuck mid-position.
Nothing to do with sensors. Who suggested that?0 -
How much do these diverter valves normally cost? also the diverter valve we have in now can they be cleaned or is that a silly question?0

Forget trying to clean your existing one, you'll never get it quite right.
For a temporary fix, you can manually adjust the position of the valve to suit what you need.
PS
Here ya go, £10 from B&Q

KillerWatt you need to stop giving duff advice mate, because you will cost the OP more money if she bought that 3 port valve from B and Q and then called out a boiler guy/girl to fit it.
The woman has a combi boiler and the diverter valve inside is nothing like the 3 port valve in that link from B&Q.
You need part no.248061 which is a 3-way assembly, just go online and google it.
Get a competent boiler guy/girl around to diagnose the problem and fit the part, or alternatively try a fixed price repair from Heat team (who are the service group for Baxi).
Don't mean to be blunt, but this is a moneysaving website after all:)0 -
Just as a guide, I charge £177 + VAT to replace this valve (parts & labour)0

baxi boiler combi loses water when turned on from pipe outside is this anything to with pressur loss on expansion vessel?0

what is the model number? can you give us more info.
if its a condensing combi boiler, condensate fluid is supposed to drip from the outside/external pipe.Get some gorm.0 -
Expansion vessel could be flat or maybe knackered. Check at the valve on it. If water comes out it is knackered, if nothing and very little air, then just needs re-pressurising.
The boiler needs to be drained to check this.0 -
You can check the valve by manualy sliding the switch. It sounds to me like this is the problem. Some of them even just allow you to change the head so if you have a compatable one its a 10 minute job.
Never seen this problem due to the expansion vessel though, usually when the expansion vessel goes the pressure goes through the roof.
If you are not up to checking the switch yourself then you really should get an expert in.0
