Dealer agrees car mis-sold, what is reasonable settlement request?
To cut long story short(ish), bought a £7000 car from large independent used car dealer. Was told car had FSH but service book wasn't stamped upto date, dealer would contact relevant garages and get it stamped. I left dep and picked up car a week later and paid balance, but the service book still wasn't stamped(3yrs servicing missing). I asked salesman to write and sign a letter stating car had FSH, which he did. After over a month and lots of excuses salesman tells me the former keeper has the service book and it's all upto date now and I could get it the following week, when I went to pick up book salesman was day off and no one else knew about it. Gave a letter giving 14 days to deliver. Eventually yesterday the sales director admitted there was no full service history so car is not worth what I paid for it and the ball is in my court as to what I want to do. I was also lied to about number of previous owners, told 2 but actual is 5. There have been various other small issues, but this is the main issue which I have a signed letter as proof. I also part exd a decent car with 1 previous owner and full dealer service history as I look after my cars, as a young female he maybe thought he could fob me off. I wouldn't of bought the car knowing what I know about it now, but after having it a couple of months I now quite like it and am reluctant to give car back for full refund, so wondered if anyone could advise as to what a reasonable settlement amount would be.(Thanks for reading this far).
