As Artful says, the fact that you have accepted rent from this couple means that they are indeed your Ts and you are unlikely to be able to get them out until well after an initial 6 month period.

whatever nationality they are.. UK laws apply to them and to you... you must get proper advice.. go and see a lawyer or post on the forum i formerly recommended.....

OP, it looks to me like you may have got yourself into a very sticky situation, no doubt because your intentions were good and you didn't want to be too harsh... By accepting rent from this couple you effectively started an AST. This means that you will have to give them notice 4 months after this new AST started, to leave after 6 months. Get the correct advice (landlordzone.co.uk is a good place to start) because you need to get this right to minimize the damage! The last thing you want is for them to claim squatting rights over the whole house :eek:

By receiving (i before e except after c) money he has created a contract, so yes, he did rent a room (or the house) to these people.
