Due to under estimates and price rises, my combined bills with them (I assume the are southern electric, if not I apologise!) have gone from £45 to £105 a month in the last 12 months and they are still the best rated on all the comparison sites, what do I do?!!
I am beginning to feel tempted by British Gas fix and fall!

Yes they will increase - see the article, typical as I just applied to Atlantic but it still says they are the cheapest for duel fuel.

Well my bills have not gone up by the 133% you mention, more like 44%. TBH I have never had problems with under or over estmates, because I take the trouble to give them corrected readings, and they ahve always been accepted. if a price rise takes place I recalcualate what I need pay until my next review date and request my DD be at a new figure. TBH I admit I am a perfectionist, but it is unfair to blame Southern for an eventual dtinging increase, when much is in our own hands to prevent.Anthony_MK wrote:By 9%

Don't blame Southern; the same would have happened with other suppliers in your case, and possibly worse.0 -
Switching to an expensive supplier on the promise that prices will get cheaper, when all signs point to prices getting cheaper for everyone anyway, doesn't sound like a sensible option to me.Anthony_MK wrote:I am beginning to feel tempted by British Gas fix and fall!0 -
I moved to SE after leaving British Gas who screwed me over with bad billing, on the other SE have been fine I am saving money with SE gas with BG was costing me £27.50 PM with SE it is costing me £22.00 PM and electric with BG was costing me £24.00 PM with SE it is costing me £18.00 PM I am in credit with both accounts at the moment, if my use goes up I call them they take a little more and I dont get in debt, always check bills and make sure you ring through correct reading if they have billed by estimate.
Hope that helps"Don't panic just chill out and smile"

It does thanks Snaffler.
Masonic, humour me please, why does a company announcing a 9% price rise 3 months in the future point to prices getting cheaper for everyone?
Old wiring, I know what you are saying but 44% plus another 9% is the reason I am asking this, not the fact they cant estimate my bills correctly based on what I would say is sufficient useage data.0 -

I think it is called making a profit;) or cutting losses.
The only reason some companies delay their price rises is to lure customers away from other firms. The problem is that there is no 'price increase round' these days - they all leapfrog each other, and over the past year there have been price rises every month by one firm or another.(except Dec)0 -
It doesn't. How does it point to them not going down again by the end of 2007, which is when BG fix and fall prices are supposed to come down by a token unspecified amount?Anthony_MK wrote:Masonic, humour me please, why does a company announcing a 9% price rise 3 months in the future point to prices getting cheaper for everyone?0 -
Consumer prices will never be in complete synch with what goes on at higher levels. Life just isn't that ideal.0
