Most will be joining in just to take advantage of the high margins currently available, but your assessment of added competition having an effect on pricing is probably correct.
Looking at the movement in panel prices of -8%, inverters by as much as -30% , and the positive movement of sterling against world currencies, I would expect a general price reduction of around 10% at the more competitive end of the market before the next generating season starts.
Large installers operating at the 'greedy' end of the price range who currently quote at around £5-£6/Wp will soon revisit their pricing strategy to align with the more competitive companies, which will probably have more impact on competition than the small 'start-up' MCS newcomers.
