SOGA gives you the right to claim damages (NOT "refund / replacement / repair") from the retailer for 6 years after purchase.
However you might well have to take action in the small claims Court to get these outside of the warranty period. Depends mainly on the attitude of the retailer.
If this fault is recurrent, which it appears to be, it might be worth you putting your concerns in writing to the retailer (send by recorded delivery). If you then get further problems you do have something to back you up.
This is quite a good precis of SOGA.

PS: I have a pair of 555s, they are still in one piece - so far !!!!
Directly from your link:
• For up to six years after purchase (five years from discovery in Scotland) purchasers can demand damages (which a court would equate to the cost of a repair or replacement).
• A purchaser who is a consumer, i.e. is not buying in the course of a business, can alternatively request a repair or replacement.
Pretty much amounts to the same thing if you ask me.
Since the resolution is damages (partial refund / cost to replace / cost to repair) or actual replace or repair. How is that any different from what I put?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
