which headphones? need to watch TV while OH is studying

OH has an exam soon and I will either have to never watch TV (!) or buy some headphones to use with the TV as our flat's small. I need the cheapest that aren't junk and that don't leak an irritating amount of noise.
The only ones I can see are wireless and cost £60 (which is a bit above what I was hoping). Would this interfere with the PC as a lot of the time OH will be working online? sorry if dumb question.
I would need corded ones with approx 5m cord.
Many thanks for any suggestions. Have spent a lot of time online and in comet etc and couldn't see anything - all iPod etc phones.

  • I got some wireless (infrared, not radio) headphones from Argos for about a tenner which do a pretty good job considering how cheap they were. I think they're Phillips but don't have the model number handy.

I just got tired of destroying headphones by accidentally moving too far from the PC with the wires plugged in: the wireless ones work anywhere in my flat provided I don't lose line of sight to the PC (e.g. by going into the bathroom).

I prob wouldnt use them for my PC but for TV with PC on in the same room.
Do they interfere with each other at all? (that's why was thinking wired)

I'd get some RF or radio frequency headphones as they work over large distances and through obstacles.
Infra red are very poor! and can interfere with infra red ports on mobiles and lappys and pc's

Yeah, but IR are much cheaper :).

I don't think there'd be an interference problem, certainly I haven't noticed any but my IR transmitter points away from the TV in any case. What does sometimes seem to cause interference is strong sunlight outside the window behind the PC.

I did look them up on the Argos site at the weekend, but the price seems to have gone up to nearer 20 quid now :(. Phillips SBC200 if I remember correctly.
