Hi
I want to start selling things from my website. Can anyone give me some tips on the best system to use...worldpay, paypal etc. from what I have figured so far the rates vary quite a bit. I'm only selling a few things initially so don't need anything too fancy
thanks Luca

There isnt a "best" otherwise there would only be one which every one uses.
Paypal - many people know it and so it is familiar to them. Can do more of the online store functionality for you. Low/ no setup costs. High transaction fees. Some visitors will consider unprofessional. No upgrade route
NoChex - has 2 levels of account so some room for growth. Mid transaction fees. Low/ no setup costs. Customisation available with higher level account. Includes protection against chargebacks. Less well known than others
Worldpay - gives the greatest range of options. Significant setup costs and monthly fees. Low transaction fees. Can be fully intergrated to your site. Many security options can be added. Is a "proper" merchant account. Could be considered by some to give your site credabilityAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Luca, assume you already have an online shopping basket?0

Go to bank of ireland for a merchant account. Works out at 2.5% cards, 35p debit cards and £150 setup.Kind Regards

A BOI merchant account can integrate with "Mobilepos" software, allowing both mobile & computer browser based transactions. A plain BOI account I think only facilitates doing transactions by phone.
If you look at my post in thread

there is a cheap route to get this transaction system and BOI together. But you still do not get a system that allows customers to pay online on exiting your online shop - the best starting method there may be NOCHEX (under £100) or Paypal (over).0 -
hi buglawton, no i don't have an online shopping basket...its all new to me0

I can point you to a good quick get started method - it's a new topic really though. Before you commit to any expensive packages let me know. If you view my Homepage (click on buglawton to see the link) you can see the store we have - the basic software is cheap/free and hosting about £60/year. Currently it links simply to Paypal.0
