Ecoloft - Insulation quote

Hi all,

Ecoloft have given us a quote for loft insulation with full boarding, a new loft hatch and stairs. The total quote is £912.

The breakdown is:

New hatch and rebrace - £75
Deluxe FAKRO staircase - £275
supply/fit 25m sq braced flooring - £62.50
supply/fit 25m sq flooring -£250
supply loft lighting (switch 2x pendnant) - £150
Earthwool (insulation) - Free
Eave vents - £100

Peronally I think the lighting is expensive given that we will only be storing boxes, altough it might be used as a play room at some stage. I've also seen the FAKRO stair case fitted for £299 so this would seem pretty good value

I had ecoloft do my loft about 6 weeks ago. The estimator made a big mistake when he measured up, but, credit to them, they stuck to their original price.

Overall I'm happy with the job they did. They didn't do my electrics as I had a sparky on site doing a full rewire and it was already part of his remit.

You're right on the Fakro staircase. They cost approx £160 to supply alone and are absolutely excellent.

I'd say your price is very fair. If in doubt, get another contracter to give you a quote. Remember to get like for like though...Ecoloft use pressure treated 2m contract flooring which doesn't come cheap. I'd also suggest there'd be a bit of room for negotiation in that price....

Shame...if you'd said you were referred by me, we'd both get £50!

thats a shame about the £50, was going to post on here before they came out to get an idea, but got sidetracked.

It was actually a fitter that came out and not an estimator so he basically said how it was and said having plug sockets installed was more of a pain than it was worth.

I did think that the roof section would also get boarded but they obviously dont do that.

I had budgeted for around £800 so hopeful of some movement

I had my loft done by Ecoloft about three weeks ago and recieved £50 cashback for recommending a friend who had a 'Deluxe Storage' package done.

The prices have marginally gone up from what OneFurlongOut was quoted but this is probably down to VAT and cost of materials going up.

Overall I found Ecoloft to be very good value for money, the lads who did the work were friendly and very tidy and all work was done in one day; ladder, flooring, lighting, 2x plug sockets, insulation, eave vents and loft lining. All in all it came to £1370 and I feel I got very good value for money especially as my loft is rather large at 40m2.

My friend who had the 'Deluxe Storage' was also very pleased with her new storage room and would gladly recommend them.

After reading these posts about Eco Lofts I decided to get a quote from them.

Eco lofts were first to my property and were very explanatory and the surveyor took around 45mins. We went through all the options of what I could have as they have a number of different types of storage rooms. I decided to go with the Fakro ladder, flooring (35m2), light (x2), plug socket and dust proof membrane and my quote came to £1250 including VAT.

Overall I was very pleased with the price and I am going to go ahead with the works.
