Hello
Myself and my wife are looking at heading to Iceland in mid to late November this year for around 5 nights. We want to experience the thermal pools, maybe some husky sleds or some ice truck expeditions etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to go in iceland, or companies to book with ?
Thanks
Ben

My mother went to Iceland but only for some frozen chips.0 -
Icelandair or Iceland Express are the only airlines to fly Keflavik to the UK.0

At that time of year you're pretty much stuck to the area around Reykjavik as the roads are blocked with snow. I'm not sure which thermal pools you'll get to. (I don't really class the Blue Lagoon as such as it's power station run off water, and there are much nicer natural thermal pools).
There is a guy (or two) on the tripadvisor forum (icelandicguide and frozen baz were 2 I remember) who lives in Reykjavik and is happy to answer questions about travel to Iceland. He was lots of help when we were organising our trip 3 years ago. IIRC he works in the tourist trade so knows all about what's on offer, but doesn't push his company.
It's only a game

We went on an Icelandair package - very good indeed. Excellent 3 star hotel, (The Bjork) good restaurant attached, not part of the hotel, but used for breakfasts, evening meals were good value too.
The main tourist sights are: Geysir, Gulfoss, Skogafoss and Blue Lagoon. I would suggest a hire vehicle - type depends on where you intend to go, we got by with an Astra. Roads vary from very good quality tarmac to very poor gravel tracks. You MUST buy a good quality road map before you leave Rekyavik - go to a petrol station for one. Usually, the number of digits in the road number gives some idea of the quality to be expected, the more digits, the worse the "road" is likely to be.
Plan well in advance, this site is invaluable:-

A good day out is to follow Highway 1 for as far as you think is a reasonable day trip; to Vik on the Southern tip of Iceland ? Scenery is terrific - I think the road has now been replaced where the Volcano washed it away !!
The main thing to remember is that Iceland is very thinly populated outside of the towns. If you hit trouble, there may be very limited mobile phone coverage and very little passing traffic.
BUT - it is a great place to go !!!0
