PPC - have I boobed by appealing?

Hello all - I hope someone can help!
I received a PPC for parking in an NCP operated station car park. I had paid for my parking but was not in a bay as they were all taken. There is no signage near any of the pay and display machines telling me that parking must be in marked bays. I have often parked in this spot, as have other motorists in the 18 months I've been using this car park.
Rather miffed about the ticket (especially as I'd not seen any one ticketed for parking in this spot before) and because I wasn't causing an obstruction as the ticket alleged, an appeal was sent off.
I now think I've boobed somewhat and should have just ignored the ticket as it's unenforceable. However, as I appealed, they now have my details.
I'm not prepared to pay up - any advice as to what to do next? I don't want to end up in court and wish I'd sought advice 1st before falling into the trap of being threatened with an unenforceable notice!
Grateful for any advice - thank you!:(

They will reject your appeal.
You can ignore all further correspondence - you haven't made it any less unenforceable by appealing. OK they know who you are but they need a good deal more evidence than that to take you to court.0 -

All you have done is saved them the £2.50 bribe to those nice people in Swansea for your details.
You may get a few more letters than normal, but just ignore them and don't contact them again. NCP never do court anyway.0 -
Well there is no such thing as an appeal, they will always tell you the charge stands, whatever the circumstances are.
Just hold tight and ignore the letters. As you have appealed they may well send you a few more letters hoping you cave in. If it does go to court, which is highly unlikely, a good defence would mean they cannot win. Only the police can fine you for obstruction, a private company can not.0 -
Thank you all so much for coming back to me so quickly.
I think that even if they did go to court, the fact that I have always paid to park and never been ticketed on more than 30 ocasions would indicate to a court that any policy has been enforced arbitrarily - I can show photos of other vehicles parked in the same location over different dates without tickets. Besides, they permitted it by accepting my payments over all these past occasions.
Thanks - feeling less fraught and owe you all a big kiss!:)0 -
NCP have never ever taken anyone to court, and they never wil do.
They're big and the last thing they want it for news of their court loss to appear in the nationals. They have a nice little scam going and want to keep it quiet.0
