Bought a fake: What to do??

Hi all,
Bought an eye cream from ebay. Received it this morning but pretty certain is a fake. I have bought this cream from a reputable store before and it looks very different: The lid is matt not shiny the label says the product name only no trademark etc and in a dented box bubblewrapped. the original comes in a box with special fitted packaging-with the hole cut out to keep it in place. I opened it was not sealed in anyway and it is full of a yellow gloop that looks nothing like the original and looks half empty. Will not use as I have no idea what it is. Paid through paypal. What should I do? Do I open a dispute with paypal or contact the seller.

Have you tried to email the seller to see what they say?0

You first have to contact the seller and see what they say and then you can open a dispute as far as I know. You could always emai ebay for advice too but they often seem to email back generic replies that don't answer my actual question! Also go onto the ebay forum at ebay and ask on there - there should be loads of experts who can tell you exactly what to do on there.

Did you check his feedback for similar complaints?0

I did check his feed back which was 99.8 only 2 negs out of about 1000. Not sure ehat to say to seller. Do I just tell him straight up that I want a refund because I know its a fake? Do I threaten to take it further ie open a dispute?
or should I keep a polite tone- just tell him that there is something iffy about the item and see what he does?0 -

Inform them that the item is not authentic and that you would like to return the item for a full refund.
If they kick up a stink, ask why on earth you should put something on your face when you have no idea of the real source?
When you've got your refund neg them and report them to ebay... or better yet, report them to the manufacturer of the Real Deal, or its VERO.My TV is broken!

Ok.... I contacted the seller to tell him I thought it was a fake and wanted a refund. He told me to send it back and he will give a refund.
Now if I return it I will have no proof of the item being fake and if he decided not to give me a refund I couldnt really do anything could I? Anyway should I send it back considering the nature of the item- eye cream (with no idea of the contents) for him to resell as a genuine.
What is the correct course of action?0 -
If you paid a significant amount and you don't mind paying a little more to protect your refund, send it by special delivery. My TV is broken!
