Natwest: why is it so difficult to get a statement?

hiya,
i bank with natwest and need 3 months bank statements for a mortgage application.
on their website it says 'These statements will be sent to you in the post and should arrive 2-3 days after we have received your request.'
however... 10 days after my initial request they have yet to arrive!
why do these banks bang on at us to do our banking online, then make it so difficult to meet such a simple request.
i'm sure i used to just walk into my bank and request statements over the counter... do you think they'd do that for me now if i went in and kicked up a fuss! i dont want the mortgage agreement to expire.

  • can you not just print them out directly from your online banking?
If not, go in branch and chase it up.

You think you have waited long? I have waited for 4 weeks for mine to arrive from A&L, and they haven't turned up. I went to the branch and a lady there printed them for me on headed paper. My mortgage provider said the statements had to say the account holder and account details.

Also, A&L charge for their paper statements (well, for my account). But since they never produced them, they haven't charged them and the ones I got from branch were free.

  • I think that RBS / Natwest computers are going through some sort of development so they can divide the England branches and Scottish Natwest.

I have tried to do a couple of things with them in the past few weeks. Either they dont like me any more, or they are do devlopment work.

I can understand they want to get evertything sorted out for the sale to Santander.

Keep trying is all I can suggest and download from the internet.

Hypothetical question. What if the statements are delayed or lost in the post? Phone them up, state you haven't recieved them, they will resend without a charge as you have not recieved your previous request.
    Best Regards

  • I have the opposite problem.
They wont stop sending them to me and I've asked them not to !
