virgin help

I have virgin tv and last week sse cut my cable putting up street lights. They have been really helpful btw and offered us a freeview box and already offered to pay the cost of repair.
My issue is with Virgin who said at the time it could take upto 3 weeks because they had to get permission to dig. Today we had the hole reopened by sse to check that it was them responsible. They said they could leave it open for Virgin to fix. I then phoned Virgin to let them know and they said that the earliest appointment is the 12th October, and that as it was not a Virgin error that I would have to foot the bill (this isn't a big issue as sse have already said they will but just goes a long way to me hating virgin)
This means I am 4 1/2 weeks without internet or tv services. does any one know if a. i still have to pay my bill and b. can i use this as a way to get out of my contract and move to sky on the bases that they are not able to provide the service. Any help on this matter would be a great help. ps i don't really want to go with sky as there broadband is dire but i have grown to detest Virgin who messed up the install in the first place and took weeks of calls to get install fees back. So if anyone knows if there is a department i can get hold of that will push the engineer dates forward (they have to have spare times as they said if it effected more than one house it could be done in a day).

ps sorry if my English is bad its not my strong point and i am ranting a little.

You need to keep paying Virgin. Its not their fault that they cannot provide the service.

Virgin have done nothing wrong. You cannot use this to get out of your contract.

Don't forget to charge SSE for the rental you will have to pay to Virgin while you are not receiving the service.
  • So it is sse who i will have to chaise then not virgin. Does anyone know any ways to get them out sooner?
  • I should also mention that the cable was not protected at all by any shielding.
  • Shielding would make little difference to a digger.

It's SSE that have caused the problem and it is them that should pay to have it resolved. You could always ask them to lean on virgin on your behalf but not really virgins fault this one I am afriad.
    Thinking critically since 1996....
