What is the cheapest wireless route to take?
Official Xbox wireless adapter is £60, £20 second hand if you're lucky enough to find one in Game.
Belkin do a wireless gaming adapter for £50.
Anyone know any?

ethernet cable?
or wireless bridge with an old router you might have lying around?0 -
The official adaptor is only £46 at Amazon0

Have you got a wireless PC \ laptop near the Xbox?0

Ethernet isnt an option as the router is downstairs in the living room.
How do I bridge?
You basically have a wireless router operating in reverse -called 'bridge' mode. Not all are capable of operating in this mode but alot are (read the manual). You then ethernet cable the Xbox into the wireless bridge router that in turn is connected to your router downstairs wirelessly.
you might have an old router lying around you could do this with.
or you could buy one/look on ebay.
-you just need a wireless access point not full blown ADSL router, cost around £200 -

Yes I do.
There should be an old router somewhere aswell.Love United - Hate Glazer0 -
Well perhaps dig out the old router and have a play.
I'll also mention homeplug type things even tho i personally don't like em.
problem I suspect with xBOX is anything other than a direct cable will be components adding lag etc to your link which isn't ideal for gaming.... but so long as its kept relatively uncomplicated should be ok.0 -
I would go the homeplug route, for low bandwith applications (such as XBL), they are ok.
Pick up some cheap second hand ones on a internet auction site near you

My brother in law had to bridge using his laptop , and it added too much lag , and was a always dropping out ( not to mention really difficult to set up ect ) .this maybe more due to his crappy laptop though . he went for a extra long ethernet cable in the end .
i assume you already have and Xbox . if you don't then the new ones have wireless built in already .
If you cannot make it work using your laptop/ reversed router ect , then get the adaptor . it is really easy to set up , and works well . i do think it is expensive for what it is though .
If you get Strict NAT issues when you connect to Xbox live then post back here as you will need to sort this before playing .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0
