Hi we are looking at buying a Audi A4 estate and have run an HPI check and this is what has come back:

The current plate was transferred to this vehicle on 08/09/2010

L** **D was applied to this vehicle on 02/04/2007
  • There are no interests recorded against L** **D
T*** **A was applied to this vehicle on 14/02/2005
  • There are no interests recorded against T*** **A
S* **F was applied to this vehicle on 12/06/2001
  • This VRM has been recorded as having an outstanding finance agreement
  • An outstanding finance agreement was recorded on 19/05/2008 against a A4
T*** **A was applied to this vehicle on 30/03/1999
  • There are no interests recorded against T*** **A
So it was on a private plate between 12/06/01 and 14/02/05 - and this private plate is showing outstanding finance from 19/05/2008. Am I right in thinking that because it was in 2008, and the car we want to buy was on a different private plate at that time, it is ok?

I've had a look online, and a few sites have said the HPI check should give details of the finanace company (so I could phone them and find out if it is settled or not), but it doesn't.

If you run S* **F through an insurance website quote system what car does it come back to?

If it is an A4 as well but newer/different spec I would think the old owner of your prospective vehicle just keeps buying A4's from a dealer on finance and putting their personal reg on it.

I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
    & Choo Choo for trains!!
  • Thanks for that - it comes back as an 08 plate Audi A4, which would be why it's still showing finance I'm guessing, being only 2 years old.
