Manchester centre parking

Options
Hi,

I hope someone can help! I need to find a cheap (ie not NCP and the like) car park in Manchester centre, near to the Oxford Road/university area.

I know there is a cheap car park on the old Boddingtons site, and a few others very near to that area, but ideally I would like to find one closer to the university. I will be commuting in several times a week but walking accross town (which I don't actually mind doing!) is not ideal due to the time I need to be back home in the evening.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. :) I have also posted this in another forum, in case you see it twice!

I hope this is of some use to you .
  • Have the University been able to help? Sometimes they can offer permits to students who live further away or have kids etc. Or they may be able to suggest a cheap parking location.
MSE aim: more thanks than posts :j

Thanks,I actually hadn't thought of that! :rotfl:I'm going to call them first thing on monday and ask- there is a car park next to my building for 'permit holders' so I am going to enquire.

Thanks, and also thanks to the poster above I'm going to check out that site.

I think you will be struggling parking around the University area in Manchester. Staff have to apply for parking permits and they are only issued for people with medical problems and those with school age children. The staff who are issued with permits have to pay about £3 per day.

There is a car park on Dale Street near to Picadilly Station that is quite reasonable and then you could use the free bus to get onto Oxford Road.

When I was at uni (admittedly 7 years ago now :S), I used to park at the Aquatics centre because it was cheaper than the uni car park behind my building (arts). I had a quick look online and it has the cost down now as £5.40 for up to 10 hours, its a bit steep imho, but maybe useful if you are really pushed
