Hi all. Wondering if anyone can help me please. Has anybody used Rust-oleum chalky finish furniture paint? I bought a tin in sage green and the first coat goes on wonderfully but when it comes to the second coat (which I need as there is always a few streaks I've missed) I'm getting loads of air bubbles in it. The only way I get rid of them is to paint over and over, it's so time consuming. I don't understand what is causing it, I'm leaving way more than 4 hours in between coats. Any ideas anyone? Thanks0

Didit mention anything about stirring the paint?
I haven't used this paint, but often if you contact the manufacturers they should be able to help answer queries.0 -
Yeah I did stir it well each time I used it as it does separate a lot. I've done 2 chairs one after the other and each time it was always the second coat these little bubbles appeared seconds after applying. I have sent rust-oleum a message asking them for advice too. Just wondering if anyone else had had the same problem.0

Hi clever crafty people
I've got some pine furniture (a 1920s school desk and a chest of drawers) I want to paint for my daughter. I don't want to distress them, or gloss them. I'm thinking chalk paint and wax or eggshell will have the effect I want.
Can anyone recommend a paint? I know Annie Sloane is recommended but is it horribly expensive?0 -
Posted on DIY, but no response!
Hi All,
I have a chest of drawers similar to picture in link below.
I painted it 24 hours ago with Dulux satinwood, self undercoating paint and it is still very wet, even looks very "glossy" still.
The chest does not have any grain, very smooth, with a non-handpainted finish, similar to a melamine but not if you see what I mean?.
I gave it a light sand, stirred the paint etc.
Any advice please?

Posted a bit more info on your thread . Is the chest heavy ? it may be mdf or a composite . I usually only paint solid wood but have upcycled a few other materials . I always use a good multisurface primer not allowed to mention the name but it's mentioned on this thread .It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
did the paint dry?
why can't we mention names? I often do0 -
Hi
I don't mind mentioning the name of my ESP. I use dulux trade primer and have used to prime melamine, MDF, wood etc. works a treat!
