I've certainly bought liquid sandpaper there, can't remember if they also had ESP. I would check online or phone customer services.
You can definitely buy it here:

love the lined cases, how do you stop the paint (was it chalk paint?) from flaking off when they are opened and shut?

    Wax, or Vaseline!

Hi everyone, just wondered if anyone has used a dining table for the garden? Garden furniture is so expensive I was thinking of buying a second hand table, maybe painting it with yacht varnish and also using a nice oilcloth on the top to pretty it up. Have seen an old oak table in Emmaus for £45 that needs work doing to the surface so seems ideal. Would this work?

Been a busy bee, got an Old suitcase from the charity shop for 50p and the man from the antique shop gave me a manky vanity case, with some unidentified liquids in bottles in it.

I also painted a manky plastic garden chair with some left over home made chalk paint.

Love what you've done with the cases

Meames I love what you did with those cases. I like old suitcases anyway, and you've given those ones a new lease of life

becuse I had to rip the insides out it was a bit softer than before. I cut up old eral packts and glued the fabic on to them and then glued those to the insides to give it a bit more stability - saved on hemmming!

I haven't, but one thought tiff, is the bottom of the legs - you might need to you coat them or cover them to stop them 'soaking up' moisture?
  • I think it's a good idea painting a dining table for the garden. Have a look at www.rustoleumspraypaint.com
Don't know what to do about water soaking up the legs but someone on the forum will know.

the main differences between garden tables and dining tables
    is how they're held together
if your didning table used a water based glue in any of its joints you will need to add a nail or screw

this applies to the top too - most dining tables are made from several pieces of wood - glued together to form a sheet - although varnishing will stop most water penetration it will have to be thorough - top bottom and under joints....and as your table will be solid - without drainage the water will sit on it -
oilcloth will no stop the "damp" that will also cause this seperation

lack of drainage will also add to this - (from a solid surface)
you may need to add battons underneath and screw each section to this to stop them seperating - or you could just split the top back into sections - and then seperate them a little having varnished them - and that would be ideal..also increases the size of your table top - but involves a very steady way of cutting long strips...

oddly a metal table frame coated in hammerite and treated planks reclaimed from - say a pallet - would work very well
the hardwood softwood issue is quite minor and depends on how often and well you are prepared to treat the wood
    interesting question though
