Tax Credit Help

Hi

I am really stuck with tax credits and I really dont know what to do.

I applied for working tax credits 5 months ago and have still not had a reply, they tell me when I am able to get through it is stuck in "Awaiting Award", they then say they will refer it to head office, but they never respond either. I have complained so many times in writing and by phone but they never respond, I have been to the ombudsman and the ajudicator who both say they cant do anything until I receive a reply from my complaint. But that is a bit hard since they never respond.

I have even written to my MP and had no response.

I am so frustrated, me and my partner are struggling big time for money and I have made at least a hundred phone calls trying to get an answer.

Please please please can someone advise me what to do? I really dont know what to do, I am stuck and getting very upset about this now.

Thank you

Ryan

  • Are you entitled to them?

    Do you have children?
  • Well before I applied they said I would be entitled to around 80 pounds a week, I do have a son but he does not live with me. But i know i'm not entitled to child tax credits.
  • Are you over 25?

Do you work more than 30 hours per week?

    What's your joint income?
  • Yeh i am 28, yeh I work 35 hours and get just over 200 pound a week, my partner doesnt work
  • Okay I would advise you contact your local CAB office who could help you sort this out.

Does your partner claim JSA or any other benefits?

    Do you claim LHA/CTB?
  • Ok well I will go down there on monday and wait in the 3 hour queue lol.

We are trying to get JSA for her at the moment.

LHA/ CTB? sorry i dont know much about these benefits stuff, one time i try to claim I end up waiting for 5 months.

Thank you very much for your help, feel a bit calmer for just writing it and someone actually helping me for a change.

Any other advice given would be great as well. Thanks again

LHA = help with your rent
    CTB= Council tax benefit.

What are your GF's circumstances? Did she pay sufficient national insurance conts for year 07-08 and 08-09?
  • No dont get help with either.

She did, they just "lost" the paperwork
  • You're not having much luck, you need a welfare rights worker to help.

    Good luck with it!
  • tell me about it!! how do i get one of those?!?

    thank you
