Car insurance advice, husband not aloud to drive and he's the main driver

Hi
My DH unfortunalty had a seizure a couple of weeks ago - and has been told not to drive for 6 months.
Problem is - the car insurance is his policy and I'm just a named driver. He has about 18 yrs no claims and they have always been protected no claims. I have never had my own policy.
Our insurance is up for renewal in 2 weeks - I presume he has to tell them what has happened - will we just loose all those no claims?
Any advice greatly appreciated xx

I would just wait for renewal and change yourself to the main driver. I have been the main driver on my husbands policy for years. Just stress to them that you will be the main driver and see what happens in 6 months with your husbands ability to drive.

does that mean that we will loose all those no claims though?0

No. As long as your husband consents to you becoming the policyholder/main driver and user of the NCD entitlement it will be retained.
You might want to arrange this now, so that the renewal is issued on this basis and you can shop around. Tell them that your husband is currently unable to drive. The Insurers will make an admin charge for this change to the policy, but I think it is probably best to deal with it now.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
