Zone alarm did an update and I had problems again with it, so uninstalled it via ccleaner. Downloaded an earlier version and tried to install it, but wouldn't let me. Brought up message about True Vector service.. Needless to say I have no idea what to do can any one help. Also tried to system restore but can't go back with that either. What have I done? Regards Trish
Message is: setup is unable to log into the True vector service. install cannot continue. Please use service manager to shut down truevector and then install.

If you have remnants of ZA still installed, it should come up as true vector internet monitor..

Hi,
Had this problem and the fix is real easy. Go to this web site:
http://www.greenwood.iwarp.com/sgcomputer.html
Download the zfix.zip. Run that and it cleans up all the files left over by the Zone Alarm uninstall. Then try again. It should install just fine.
Make sure Zone Alarm is uninstalled first, zfix it and reinstall.
Good Luck.0 -
If the above doesn't work, go to Start > Run and paste the following commands in the open field clicking OK after each:
sc stop vsmon
sc delete vsmon
Then delete these folders in bold:
C:\Windows\System32\ZoneLabs
C:\Program Files\ZoneLabs
Restart the machine and reinstall ZoneAlarm.0 -

Zonealarm have their own forums, and they recomend that Zonealarm installations should not be managed by third party softwares(CCLeaner in your case). The recomended method by Zonelabs is as follows.
1) Uninstall Zonealarm using thier own uninstall utility which has its shortcut in Zonelabs programs group.
2) Reboot
If you plan to reinstall upgrade then follow on
3) Disable all network cards or interfaces that you have on your system.
4) Install Zonealam.
5) Reboot
6) Enable the interfaces you disabled earlier on.
7) When Zonelab detects new networks, add them to appropriate category (Trusted or Untrusted)
Same steps are recomended for reinstallation or upgrade. Been using to for 2 years with no problems.
Zonealarm installs its own kernel driver which is at very low level and can cause problems if the above method is not followed.
PS: I use CCleaner myself and it is a great software. So i am not saying you should not use it.0 -
The Zone Alarm repair file, zfix.zip, is now available at http://www.gwtechonline.com/gwc/dnlds.html. The original site at greenwood.iwarp.com is in the process of being dismantled. Thanks. D. Greenwood0
