Wireless Connection to my notebook

Hi Guys,
I need help as I don't have much knowledge on PC. I bought a desktop recently for my growing family. Prior to that I have notebook where I used for online banking and other stuff. My question might be simple but haven't got a clue. Can I have a wireless connection to my notebook at home as not to disturb my wife and children using our desktop? If it's possible how to do it? Many thanks in advance.
