Can you add an end date please.
This was posted here so watch your thanks.I'll not pm a merge as the other will probably be deleted re self promotion.
I have no connection with this promotion. However I still don't get this fatuous rule about self promotion of competitions. If eg Honda are running a competition to win a car, and they put it on here, I would have thought that it saves other people the bother.
That's the trouble with this country nowadays, just one more petty rule after another.0 -
!!!! sake, it's simple enough to understand. If they start allowing companies to promote their own competitions and stuff on here, the place will become buried in endless spam and advertising, which nobody wants.
The rules were there for you to read when you signed up, if you don't like them you can stop coming here, you won't be missed. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

Please be nice to all forum members.
Thanks, Gilla. I am glad someone independent has stepped in to calm Zenseeker down. I don't know why he/she has been so unpleasant to me, including a further recent attack by private message. I really could have done without this today. Is there anyway I can block zenseeker from sending more private messages to me. I have had enough.:(0 -
As much I do not like to do it I feel this is justified. We all have to abide by by MSE rules even if one feels they are factuos,as pedped believes.I like this board & would apprecciate if such as pedped could find there way to contribute more rather than behave in they way they have.
With regard to your past perceived rudeness & bumpimg maybe read these..........

maybe just MAYBE you could have highlighted the fact that the prize takes place in Belfast and no travel expenses before people bother to register - just a thought! doh:mad:

Maybe you shouldn't bother entering then tbh.

If you don't like the prize, don't enter - simple really. People always moan about nothing.

I think it was some bloke called Martin Lewis. The MSE site is free of adverts & admin see posting your own site's comps as advertising.I have no views on whether this is an OK comp or not.I just like visiting this board & would prefer that it continued & was not undermined or discontinued.0 -

I might have known Weeweeowen might have stuck his tuppence halfpenny in.
It is somewhat typical that said person has chosen to selectively quote some or part of some posts. I suggested that people read my posts in their totality and judge for themselves. Frankly to partially quote from posts is somewhat disingenuous, and in relation to this, there are two other valid points -
1. People are quite able to look at people's previous posts in their totality without Weeowen trying to give a false impression as to the totality.
2. I suspect that Weeowen is somewhat miffed because of the fact that I started this thread posting this competition. Weeowen had sought to have the competition barred due to some nebulous rules about self promotion. As the competition would have been removed because of Weeowen, I decided to post the competition as I have no connection with that website or indeed any other website.
3. As a result of my intervention over 100 people from this site managed to see and enter this competition. If Weeowen had had his way none of you would even have known about the competition.
It is for that reason that I sought to make my earlier comment about the sense or otherwise of this nebulous rule about self promotion.
4. In any event Weeowen's position and that of the other person zenseeker is self defeating if the end intention of all of us is to have sight of and enter as many appropriate competitions as possible.
It does not take the brain of Einstein to work out that if someone has a website with a competition he wishes to promote, he could quite easily open up any number of e-mail accounts, join this site, and then post up each and every competition he wanted to. This could take place regardless of Weeowen or Zenseeker, and all of their vacuous rule-keeping.
I am entitled to my view about this particular rule, and its about time that Zenseeker and Weeowen, who appear from the above to consider themselves something akin to demi gods on this site woke up and smelt the coffee. ie There are many fellow people on this site, who have every right to be able to make suggestions and question the logic of some rule imposed by others.
To suggest that I, or anyone else, should leave because they don't agree with a small aspect of some rule is even more fatuous than the rule itself. Maybe I should leave the country as well because there are some aspects of government policy I don't agree with.
Frankly I don't much care what either of you think. You represent a miniscule number of the entire membership of this site, and some of the members of this site I consider to be personal friends.0 -

Trollism comes to mind but maybe you can pots a few comps for us all to enter,
If you didn't keep bothering me with your comments, then maybe I could. Frankly I don't think selective quoting by you and your other comments were in the alleged spirit of this forum. Try taking the advice yourself maybe!
I have made clear what I think - end of.0
