Halfords 3 for 2 on car cleaning

The Detailing World site is excellent, but there are so many products discussed that it is quite confusing. Also, if you are as enthusiastic as those guys you could easily spend a fortune. One bit of really good advice I got from there was the 'two bucket method' of car washing. Don't use a sponge - it traps dirt and you scratch the paint with it. Instead, have a bucket of warm water with car shampoo and a bucket of cold. Use a wash mit (about £3 in Tesco, also available in pound shops). Wash a panel at a time, rinsing in the cold in between. Also use microfibre cloths to dry or polish.0

is Mer any good? i just looking for something easier0

Mer is pretty good - my red paintwork was quite badly oxidised in places and a few goes with Mer really improved it. It dries very dusty though and I found it hard work to remove. I get the impression that serious car detailers regard Meguiars (and Poorboys products, though I've never seen those in shops) as the next step up. It does say on my Mer bottle that you can use it for other stuff - eg upvc window frames.0
