CP Plus Tickets x2

So it begins! I have received two "Parking Charge Notices" from the CP Plus operatives patrolling the car park at my hospital.

I will try to scan and upload any correspondence I receive from them for the benefit of other users on this forum.

It's a disgrace to the NHS - three of my patients who were admitted from the Emergency Department today parked in the car park, and will receive a sticker on their driver's side window in the morning. Partners of women in labour are having to plead with the men in yellow jackets to not receive a ticket.

Of course these can be ignored. It's as simple as that.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • I have instructed the affected patients to make formal complaints to the NHS trust, and also to ignore the tickets. Some of my colleagues have already paid, and thereby acknowledged their tacit acceptance of the premises of the charges - whoops!

That's what these companies cash in on - the natural acceptance of the British public of what they perceive to be 'authority'.

Some people think that if it looks like a parking ticket and there are 'some signs up' then it must be legitimate. Others smell a rat due to the amount charged for a spurious reason, decide to run a simple Google search of keywords like 'private parking scam' or the name of the company - and in seconds they find out the truth about this scam.

Very well done for complaining to the right places - it is shocking that hospitals allow these neanderthals to infest their car parks when all they really need to do is employ someone (or even redeploy someone, which would be a good thing) to work a barrier/payment system.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Or they could stop taxing people when they are ill, really its a disgrace that we fund the NHS through taxes, and this public body tries to profit out of people when they are most vulnerable, in Wales they do not charge for parking at hospitals, if they can do it here they can do it in England.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

CP Plus and the hospital can be jointly sued to get the money back.

You're only recouping the taxes you've already paid!
  • I've been reading about this - if CP Plus did take anyone to court over this, surely it would be on the basis of their "losing" money owed to them in the first place. Something called "contract penalty clauses".

As there is no ticket machine, and parking is free at the hospital, surely they have incurred no monetary loss by people going over the limit, and it would be almost impossible for them to prove it in court, as it would just be exposed as a completely inappropriate charge for parking.

Exactly. Which is why CP Plus, and 99.9% of these companies, have never been anywhere near a court and never will do.

Doesn't look hopeful Taffy, if this is anything to go by - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-11327653

However, as a matter of principle I never pay at my local hospital, and have a nice collection of invoices/begging letters to prove it!
  • our Scottish Parliament outlawed the explicit charging for hospital parking by meters etc. back in 2008.
