Credit Card mis-selling

I don't have a problem with paying my credit card, I just wanted to know about this advert. And you're right, I'm sure I heard that a fee was applicable. Probably just a scam of sorts.0

But I was just curious to see if I could get out of paying it !0 -
Ah, I've just found the answer to my question.
The thread Can Capital Returns Ltd wipe my cards is similar to what I'd heard. Thanks to those who responded helpfully. Shame on you others for your patronising and sarcastic manner to a newbie with an honest question.0 -
I think the reaction to this kind of question stems not from the information asked for, but the motivation behind the questioning as it does translate roughly to "someone has made a mistake, and possibly only a technical one in good faith, can I profit from this?".
This kind of question is fairly common on the MSE boards and tends to come in a number of veils - (bank error in my favour, can I keep it? been overpaid by employer and don't want to give it back etc.) - some more negatively oriented than the others.
When it comes in a form of that could be viewed as "weasling out" of something (e.g. a debt that has been knowingly built up) as opposed to taking advantage of something in an ethically questionable fashion that has just landed in your lap (e.g. an overpayment) I think it's fair to say that it is very much not in the spirit of the board and doesn't paint the picture of someone who is interested in what the board has to offer.
I'm sorry if you were offended, but this site doesn't give advice on how to avoid your commitments, it does however give advice on (amongst other things) how to manage and repay debts and provides support for the many who have a vast task ahead of them to achieve this, which you will most certainly receive if that is what you seek.
P.S. Miss-selling is a different beast legally than unenforcibility, the former being of the form missing or incorrect advice or information at the time of sale or a very high pressure sale, while unenforcibility is a protection from being chased for a debt rather than release from it.If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -
Thank you Danothy, if only you'd been around at the time of the original posting, I'd have been able to appreciate the reactions I'd received from others. It's understandable their feelings towards people who try to "weasle out" of paying their debts, and in hindsight I'm sorry if I gave that impression. I'm fully aware of my financial commitment and although at times it's a struggle, I've never defaulted on a payment and fully intend to pay back anything I have borrowed.
On a lighter note Danothy, are the team of MSE administrators aware of your advisory skills?0 -

So why were you asking? for research? for a laugh? or because you could weasle out of paying?
On a lighter note Danothy, we're just not using the word 'weasle' enough these days.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

They're almost certainly not, as I'm not in any way qualified or indemnified to dispense advice in any official capacity. The best I can offer is my interpretation or opinion on situations or products I've had experience with and my reasoning behind them.On a lighter note Danothy, we're just not using the word 'weasle' enough these days.
I should have spelt it weasel in my original post, shocking oversight on my part there, must try harder. If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -

If it was named "The Banker and Weasel" no-one would go there

Actually, it's possible for all people to clear their credit cards, whether they were mis-sold them or not!
What you do, is check the outstanding balance on the statement, get together that much money, and pay it to the credit card company. Job done. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0
